Open Beta to the game Dungeon Fighter Online is online.  You can download the game here and be sure to check out their facebook page.  The game spawn an anime back in 2009 called Slap Up Party: Arad Senki.

This beta will run through Apr, 13.  You can create any character up to two characters per day.  The cap is lvl.70.  First awakening is available, and skill reset is free of charge.  Check here for more info about the beta.

I played this game for over two years when it was with Nexon.  My chars were Qazxc, Wsxcv, Fr43, Desserty, and some other I’ve forgotten.  Needless to say, I love the game.  It has a fun combat system where you just smash keyboard’s buttons like crazy.  And the party system has no strict system(no tanking/healing need).  You can run with whoever as long as they know how to play.  And because of that, the waiting time for dungeon is relatively short.  Some even say the game is more like a lobby game, and I’m fine with that.  Get quick fun, no wasting time!  Let’s play DFO!

I play the game for an hour or so and I must say I’m having fun.  The button smashing is kind of fun and the story is interesting.  The game let you go back in the past time-line to relive those old epics event.  But it came with a twist, the history is changing!

Sometime a different character got hit, or sometime a different character got substituted like in the picture above when Goku became one of the Ginyu Force.  It’s pretty interesting to see how they changed the plot.  And it’s even more fun to participate with your own character.

The battle has simple control: hits, blocks, special attack, ultimate attacks, etc.  I believe it has a pretty good crowd control, a locked in to the character makes everything so much easier.  You can fly around and attack these guys from behind with ease.  You can switch between targets easily.

I also like how the battle has many monsters attacking you at the same time.  It feels exciting and fun to be apart of larger group.  Sometime they gang up on you or sometime you have friends to be decoy.  Fun stuff.

There is an online mode but I haven’t try it out.  From what I read online, you need to grind a lot of missions for drops to be a good character.  Meh.

Not sure if I like the art, the color is very vivid and character looks cartoonish.  As long as characters are correctly portrayed, I can’t complain.

The game also has an original anime cut-scenes.  I read that it borrow the plot from Dragon Ball Online?  That game wasn’t even release in NA so I have no idea what’s it about.  From Wikipedia:

The story borrows many elements from Dragon Ball Online, including Towa and Mira manipulating time, and Time Patrol Trunks trying to restore the timeline with the player’s help.

There is also an option for japanese voice with subtitles.  Dragon Ball is one of the few titles that I’ve been watching in English dub.  The opening though is a different story.  I’m all about CHA LA HEAD CHA LA.  That song is OFF THE HOOK!  This game use the new version by FLOW.  If you haven’t check it out, LISTEN TO IT NOW!
